Judge Allows Musk’s Fraud Claim Against OpenAI to Proceed
A federal judge has allowed Elon Musk to move forward with a fraud claim against OpenAI, narrowing—but not dismissing—his lawsuit that alleges the company abandoned its nonprofit mission.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Musk can continue to pursue fraud allegations in the case, which centers on OpenAI’s restructuring and transition toward a for-profit model. The judge also declined to dismiss some claims against Microsoft, a key investor in OpenAI.
However, she dismissed other parts of Musk’s complaint, including claims of racketeering, false advertising, and breach of fiduciary duty.
The dispute comes as OpenAI is under pressure to complete its corporate restructuring by the end of the year. Failure to do so could reduce a potential investment from SoftBank from $30 billion to $20 billion, according to prior Bloomberg reporting.

Amazon Says 100,000 Users Now Have Access to Alexa+
Amazon’s generative AI assistant, Alexa+, is now available to more than 100,000 users, CEO Andy Jassy said Thursday during the company’s Q1 earnings call.
Alexa+ was announced in February and is rolling out in stages. It replaces the original Alexa with a new system that can respond in a more conversational style and will eventually support agent-like capabilities, including interacting with third-party apps.
At launch, however, Alexa+ still lacks several key features Amazon previously demoed. According to The Washington Post, it cannot yet generate stories, suggest gifts, or place food delivery orders through services like GrubHub.
Jassy said more functionality will be added in the coming months, but acknowledged that today’s AI agents remain limited. He described the current performance of multi-step agents as “primitive,” with accuracy rates between 30% and 60%, and set a goal of reaching 90% with Alexa+’s backend agent, Nova Act.
