Salesforce Acquires Informatica for $8 Billion

Salesforce has acquired cloud data management firm Informatica in an $8 billion all-cash equity deal, the company announced Tuesday. The move strengthens Salesforce’s data infrastructure and supports its broader AI ambitions. Under the agreement, Salesforce will pay $25 per share for Informatica’s Class A and B-1 stock, adjusted for its prior investment in the company. Founded in 1993, Informatica serves over 5,000 customers in more than 100 countries and had a market cap of $7.1 billion at the time of the deal. Salesforce said the acquisition will enhance platforms like Agentforce, Data Cloud, Tableau, MuleSoft, and Customer 360, enabling safer and more scalable AI deployment. This marks Salesforce’s second major data-related acquisition in under a year, following its $1.9 billion purchase of Own Company in September 2024.

Anthropic rolls out voice mode for Claude

Anthropic has launched a beta “voice mode” for its Claude, enabling mobile app users to hold full spoken conversations. The feature, announced Tuesday, will roll out in English over the coming weeks and runs on the Claude Sonnet 4 model by default. Users can choose from five voice options, switch between text and voice, and receive transcripts and summaries post-chat. Voice mode also supports discussions around documents and images. The feature counts toward usage limits, with most free users getting 20–30 conversations. Integration with Google Calendar and Gmail is limited to paid subscribers, while access to Google Docs is exclusive to Claude Enterprise users. Anthropic previously confirmed development of voice capabilities and held talks with Amazon and ElevenLabs, though partnership details remain undisclosed.
